" I'm not against eating meat, but I think the current system of dealing with life is problematic. On a greater scale than any other time, the massacre continues. Consumption has existed since prehistoric times, but today it has gone too far. We are getting insensitive to it, even though we have no reason to do so. " said, Jun-Ho Bong, director of <Okja> (2017).
This is his conversation about his work <Okja> that greatly changed the perspective of animals right in South Korea.

The reason why I made the setting of the monster as eating human on only their birthday, it reminds me about the interview of JunHo Bong about <Okja>.
To be specific, he says, maintaining the current livestock industry is not sustainable mathematically because the environment is severely destroyed by water, feed, methane gas, and wastewater used to produce meat.
Thus, I added a couple of paintings in wall next to the fireplace because they have very different look of eating meat. <Saturn devouring his son> illustrates What we imagine cannibals to look like, on the other hand, another picture shows us consuming meat in a normal way.
These different paintings could demonstrate the contradiction about meat-eating of human in this era.
