Unit04_ Revising Scripts Together

Based on the short plot that made by me initially, I revised it as scripts for making storyboard with more details of the movements of characters with Chia-en.

Revised Version. 90s

Scene 01

(A frozen city street -> Min's Room) 20s

  Outside, a frozen cityscape is visible, and a newspaper is lying on the street. " The 21st Century faces the Ice Age". 

  As the building where the girl lives comes into camera view, a girl sitting at a desk is gradually seen through the window. 

(Typing Sound )

  Min scrolls through her contact lists and stops at "Bryan". 

Min : Hey, how you have been?

Brian : ........

Brian :  Not bad, I guess.

  She is happy that Brian responded her, and starts chatting with him. 

(Montage of them chatting/ having a video call at different times, shown by variety lights of shining through the window.)

  After that, they became best friend each other and they video call every day. While Brian plays his guitar, she sings a song. (Includes in montage)

Scene 02

(Radio on the desk -> Min's surprised eyes -> Map on the wall) 20s

Man's voice in Radio : Breaking News. The record breaking blizzard triggered the large-scale avalanche, estimated to cause at least 500 deaths. Affected areas include.......

  As the radio mentions the name of the area boy is living in, she immediately scrolls their chat history and finds where he shared the statue beside his house.

Man’s voice in Radio : Therefore, please avoid going near these places. The governor is going to hold an emergency meeting tonight. Please pay attention to the updates and stay safe. Thanks for listening. 

Min : Hey, I heard that there is an avalanche in your area, you alright?

(Sent 1,2,3,4,5h ago)

  She pulls the map from the wall, locates his house, and circles it using a red pen.

While she searches for his location, she shakes her legs by biting her nails in nervousness.

  Min send message to him, 

Min : I will go to find you, see you soon.

  She took her hiking bag out of the bed drawer and putting in an oxygen can, a lantern, batteries, sled, climbing cane, Eisen, a sleeping bag, a water bottle, and tin cans. (From her point of view, things and hands come out.)   - it may be deleted if not enough time

  she puts the map into her bag. 

Scene 03

(Frozen city street -> A Forest full of dead trees) 20s

  As soon as she goes outside from the building she lives in, she breathes in an oxygen can she is holding and fixes an Eisen on her boots. Then, she rides her scooter, heading toward the forest full of dead trees from the frozen city street. 

  While riding down a snowy forest path, it is snowing so heavily that Min could barely see what is in front of her.

Min: Uhh….?

  Shadows fall on Min's face, and a large snowball falls directly to her head. 

Min: Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!! 

  In an instant, she dodges the snow and almost loses balance. 

 During modifying the 2nd and 3rd parts, he suggested me if Min moves by taking her scooter to get her friend's house and I accepted his suggestion because using scooter would be better performance in the animation. Also, to be fair with the basic condition of this assignment, we decided delete some scene if there's not enough time.

Scene 04

( Downhill -> Brian's House ) 30s

  She sees the same statue from the photo Brian sent. Its body is hidden in snow.

  She speeds up her scooter too much that she falls off of it. 

  She arrives at the house where Brian lived, but more than half of the house had already been covered by heavy snow. 

  Min calls Brian with an anxious expression and enters the house from the broken window.

Min: Hello? Brian, are you here?

  There is frost coming from the broken window in his room. And there is only a letter and cassette tape which is written as “Antifreeze”.

   She picked up the cassette tape and letter, stared at them, and looked up to the sky. 

( The sound of the wind )

  As she does, the screen gradually darkens and the ending credits appear. 

The reference he had shared

After I shared to everyone in my team via Google Docs, Chia-en asked me about the details of the how they were contacting regularly and suggested the montage of the girl talking to her computer in her room, and showing different times and weathers from the window, and from a cctv perspective. As the YouTube video that he had shared, we decided it as our reference for making storyboard and animation works.
